About the Warrior Gateway Project

The Warrior Gateway Project was created to address multiple needs. The project responds to (1) public statements made by Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, calling for a national clearinghouse of resources for wounded veterans (source); and (2) a memorandum of understanding between the Department of Veteran Affairs and the Veterans Coalition to find a solution to the explosive growth in the NGO sector and to help drive improvement in that sector. The Warrior Gateway is that solution.

The Warrior Gateway’s fundamental strategy is to bring together the relevant information from around the web and our strategic partners to help our military community. This is accomplished through combining several components into an online portal.

Survivor Corps helps survivors of war and violence to heal and transform communities. In 2008, Survivor Corps grew from Landmine Survivors Network. The organization has expanded its mission to help all survivors of war. Survivor Corps focuses on the unique contribution and leadership of conflict survivors because we believe no one is better positioned to break cycles of violence than those who have survived war.

Texas Resources for Iraq Afghanistan Deployment (TRIAD) Fund, The Dallas Foundation

The Texas Resources for Iraq Afghanistan Deployment (TRIAD) Fund at The Dallas Foundation was created to provide assistance to current and former military personnel serving in Iraq or Afghanistan and their families. Grants will be made to non-profit agencies in North and West Texas that currently serve the military and their families or agencies that could, with additional funding, meet an identified unmet need of this group. Unmet needs identified by The Dallas Foundation include counseling, child care, transportation, emergency assistance, recovery programs for the families of those killed in action, and physical and mental health services.

The Starr Foundation

The Starr Foundation was established in 1955 by Cornelius Vander Starr, an insurance entrepreneur who founded C.V. Starr & Co. and other companies later combined by his successor, Maurice R. Greenberg into what became the American International Group, Inc. Mr. Starr, a pioneer of globalization, set up his first insurance venture in Shanghai in 1919. He died in 1968 at the age of 76, leaving his estate to the Foundation. The Foundation currently has assets of approximately $1.25 billion, making it one of the largest private foundations in the United States. It makes grants in a number of areas, including education, medicine and healthcare, human needs, public policy, culture and the environment.

Department of Defense – Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is the senior ranking member of the Armed Forces. As such, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is the principal military adviser to the President. He may seek the advice of and consult with the other JCS members and combatant commanders. Navy Safe Harbor

Safe Harbor is the Navy's lead organization for coordinating the non-medical care of wounded, ill, and injured Sailors, Coast Guardsmen, and their families. Through proactive leadership, we provide a lifetime of individually tailored assistance designed to optimize the success of our Shipmates' recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration activities.

Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment

The Wounded Warrior Regiment's mission is to provide and facilitate assistance to wounded/injured/ill Marines, Sailors attached to or in support of Marine units, and their family members throughout the phases of recovery.
