About the Warrior Gateway Project
Is the Warrior Gateway a government or military program?
No — we are not a government or military program. We are a non-profit program that receives all our funding from non-governmental sources, including private grants and corporate sponsors. We also rely on donations from our users.
Does the Warrior Gateway directly provide services, like housing assistance or PTSD counseling?
No — we do not directly deliver services. Instead, we allow users to easily search our database of existing service providers, to which they can then go directly for services.
Are any branches of the military involved in this project?
The Warrior Gateway is an independent non-profit program. However, we are keeping the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Army Warrior Transition Command, Navy Safe Harbor;, the Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment, the Air Force Wounded Warrior Program, and other organizations up-to-date on our progress. Please note that there is no endorsement—implied or explicit—by any of these organizations.
Who else is involved?
Many, many organizations and people — the Warrior Gateway was developed and assisted by a broad coalition of partners. You can see the full list here.
I’m interested in helping out—how can I get involved?
We’d love your help! Any organizations that are interested in getting involved can email us at info [at] warriorgateway [dot] org. Individuals interested in getting involved can assist us by donating — your financial support allows us to continue to develop and expand this vital resource for the military community.
Site Features
How much does it cost to sign up?
Nothing! Using the Warrior Gateway is completely free of charge to our military community and service provider users. In the future, we will be launching a number of advanced features (e.g., Business Intelligence & Reporting) for employers that will require a paid account, but for now everything is free.
Who can use the Gateway?
Anyone can use the Warrior Gateway, although there are three specific audiences that will find it useful: the military community (which includes veterans, active duty, reserve and guard members plus their spouses, families, and caretakers); service providers (particularly those which offer services to the military community); and employers (particularly those looking to hire veterans).
What features currently exist?
Currently, the Warrior Gateway’s main section is the Directory—a database that allows users to search for service providers (nonprofits, government programs, etc.) near them, as well as leave ratings/reviews for those service providers. Soon we’ll be launching a Career Exploration section and a Job Search section. The Career Exploration section will allow users to translate their military experience into a list of civilian careers, the lean about those careers. The Job Search section will allow users to take that list of careers matched to them and search for current openings in their area.

I work for a service provider — how can I get my organization listed in the Directory?
First, check to make sure your organization isn’t already listed — our database contains listings from several partner directories (like the National Resource Directory), so your organization might already be there. If it’s not, you can easily add your organization by clicking the ‘Add a Service Provider’ button, accessible on the Directory homepage. You will input information about your organization (name, address, phone number, etc.), then you will be given the choice to link your newly-created profile to your Warrior Gateway account. If you do so, you will become the administrator for your organization’s profile, allowing you to easily edit your organization’s information and leave official responses to user reviews left your organization.
What are the requirements for a service provider to be listed?
There are no requirements — our goal is to be as inclusive as possible, so any organization that provides services to the military community can be listed.
I know of some service providers, but they aren’t listed in the Directory — what does that mean?
While our aim is to eventually list all service providers, but there may be some we haven’t found yet. If you know of a service provider that isn’t currently listed, it probably means we just haven’t run across that organization yet. The best thing to do in this case is to either create a listing for that service provider, or talk with the organization and recommend that they create a profile for themselves on the Warrior Gateway.
Where does your data for service providers come from?
Our data comes from several sources. We have syndicated the listings of a number of other smaller directories such as the National Resource Directory, the Directory of VA facilities, and many others. Also, many listings are submitted and updated by our users.
How do I provide feedback for a service provider?
It’s easy! On the profile page for a service provider, you will see a ‘Rate this Service Provider’ box on the right. All you need to do is rate the service provider from 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest) in the given categories, write an optional review, then click the ‘Rate’ button. You’ll have to be logged into your account to publish feedback though.
Where do the reviews/ratings for service providers come from?
The ratings and reviews come entirely from Warrior Gateway users — people who have used a service provider and want to share their experiences with the community of Warrior Gateway users.
How is the rating of the Service Provider determined?
The Warrior Gateway calculates the rating of a Service Provider by averaging all of the ratings that a user submits for that organization. The number of stars on the organization’s page is an average of all 4 metrics on that organization. You can view the complete ratings with the user’s comments on the Service Provider detail page.
A user left negative feedback for my organization on the Directory—can I remove it?
You cannot. Comments can only be removed if they violate our terms of use, which generally means they contain profanities, explicit material, or spam. If a comment contains these things, you can flag it by clicking on the ‘Flag this Comment’ button below the comment. Negative comments that do not violate our terms of use, however, will not be removed. While negative feedback left for your organization might seem bad, it can also be constructive, as it can help you to identify areas for which there is room for improvement within your organization.
Is the number of Service Providers listed on Warrior Gateway the exact number that is displayed on the Directory Search Page?
Not exactly. The number of organizations displayed on the Directory Search Page is an estimate of the total number of organizations we have in the Warrior Gateway Directory. This number might vary slightly from the actual number in our database.
Something isn’t working — who should I contact?
You can fill out our feedback survey, or you can also use our contact us form to reach us directly for technical support.
