This unique, participatory event is intended to increase awareness of post-deployment psychological health issues, disseminate information regarding available resources, and foster greater family and troop resilience.
Each reading is followed by a panel discussion featuring a diverse group of community participants, as well as a town hall-style audience discussion. Traditionally, the panel includes: an active duty soldier and a veteran, a spouse or another family member, and a mental health professional and/or a member of the chaplaincy. The event takes 2 1/2 hours, from start to finish, including the performance, panel discussion and the town hall meeting that follows.
Theater of War is currently presented in three different formats, which address the specific needs of military audiences at sites throughout the United States and abroad.
